The Wayne County Airport Authority, in association with D Group/Quick Clinic, offers COVID-19 Rapid Testing in the McNamara Terminal for passengers, employees and the general public. COVID-19 testing hours of operation are 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., 7 days a week. These hours are subject to change.
In the McNamara Terminal, testing is located in the International Arrivals Public Lobby (below Domestic Baggage Claim). Valid photo identification is required.
Both Antigen and Rapid PCR COVID-19 Testing are available:
Rapid Antigen tests are $75 (USD). Results are usually available in about 20-30 minutes.
Rapid PCR tests are $175 (USD). Results are usually available in less than an hour.
Prices listed above do not include taxes and payment processing fees. Insurance is not accepted.

On April 18, 2022, a federal judge overturned the CDC order requiring mask usage on public transportation and in transportation hubs. In response, the TSA announced it will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment mandating masks. While masks are no longer required at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), the CDC continues to recommend the use of masks in indoor public transportation settings. Customers and workers should decide what is best for their health and comfort. Regardless, DTW will continue to be a welcoming environment for all.
The janitorial services staff at Detroit Metropolitan Airport has always followed a process to sanitize the terminals, similar to what occurs in a hospital. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the janitorial staff increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in the terminals. Signage and acrylic shields are throughout the DTW campus to encourage social distancing. Hand sanitizer stations have also been placed in many high-traffic locations.
Beginning May 7, 2025, your driver's license or state ID card must be REAL ID compliant if you wish to use it to fly domestically in the U.S. or enter certain federal facilities, military bases and nuclear power plants.
Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act enacted the 9/11 Commission's recommendation that the Federal Government "set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses." The Act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards and prohibits certain federal agencies from accepting for official purposes licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards.
