I-275 Construction Underway

August 4, 2022

Drivers using I-275 to reach Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) should allow themselves extra time due to construction. The second year of the I-275 project is underway. Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews are rebuilding southbound I-275 from 6 Mile Road to Northline Road with both directions of traffic on the northbound side. There will also be bridge and ramp work on the southbound side. For the latest information, please visit MDOT’s website: Revive275.org.

COVID-19 Rapid Testing Available in Both Terminals

March 21, 2022

The Wayne County Airport Authority, in association with D Group/Quick Clinic, is now offering COVID-19 Rapid Testing in the McNamara Terminal and Evans Terminal for passengers, employees and the general public. COVID-19 testing hours of operation are 6 a.m. – 7 p.m., 7 days a week. These hours are subject to change.   

In the McNamara Terminal, testing is located in the International Arrivals Public Lobby (below Domestic Baggage Claim). In the Evans Terminal, testing is available in the Baggage Claim Area at Carousel 6. A valid photo identification will be required.

Face Coverings No Longer Required on Airport Property

On April 18, 2022, a federal judge overturned the CDC order requiring mask usage on public transportation and in transportation hubs. In response, the TSA announced it will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment mandating masks. While masks are no longer required at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), the CDC continues to recommend the use of masks in indoor public transportation settings. Customers and workers should decide what is best for their health and comfort. Regardless, DTW will continue to be a welcoming environment for all.
