Road construction expected to cause delays accessing DTW

August 19, 2019

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is continuing the road work on I-94 near the airport as part of its bridge repair project.

Beginning August 19, only two lanes will be open on eastbound and westbound I-94 between US-24 and I-275. Traffic will be shifted throughout the work zone.

The service drive exits to Merriman and Middle Belt roads will each be reduced to one lane.

Northbound Middle Belt Road and the ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed. All traffic will be detoured. Southbound Middle Belt Road will have one lane open and the ramp to westbound I-94 will remain open.

The Ecorse Road on-ramps are closed to eastbound and westbound I-94 through the fall.

While access to Detroit Metropolitan Airport will be maintained off I-94, delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to use the I-275 and Eureka Road airport entrance. Please plan your trip accordingly.

The project is expected to be complete in the fall. A project map can be found at https://bit.ly/2J97D3J.
