Public invited to participate this weekendNews Releases
DETROIT (Oct. 11, 2016) – The Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA), which operates Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Willow Run Airport, will hold a public auction of its surplus equipment this weekend. The event will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Martin’s Towing & Sales, 17180 Dix-Toledo Highway in Brownstown, Michigan, near the intersection of Pennsylvania Road and Allen Road.
On the auction block will be a variety of used goods no longer needed by the Airport Authority including office furniture, plumbing and electrical supplies, HVAC supplies and vehicles. The auction will also feature a wide variety of unclaimed “lost and found” items ranging from computer accessories and digital cameras to jewelry and musical instruments. Before becoming part of the auction, all lost and found items are inspected for any distinguishing characteristics and kept for six months in an effort to reunite them with their owners.
“This auction is an opportunity for members of our community to purchase worthwhile and even unique items from our airports,” said Airport Authority Interim CEO Joseph Nardone. “Their participation enables us to generate revenue and return the items to good use.”
The auction will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Parking is limited; interested bidders should arrive early to secure a parking space and register. A refundable $200 deposit is required in order to bid.
Auction items will be available for advance viewing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, and for one hour prior to the start of the auction on Saturday. Interested bidders may register during the Friday preview to save time on the day of the auction.
