Airport Fire

The Airport Fire Department provides aircraft rescue firefighting, emergency medical services, fire suppression, fire prevention and inspection, hazardous materials mitigation and urban search and rescue services.  The Fire Department provides these services to both Detroit Metro and Willow Run Airports.  All members of the Fire Department are licensed Paramedics and are specially trained to respond in the rare instances when Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting is needed.

In 2011, the Airport Fire Department became the first Airport Authority Fire Department in the nation to earn an international accreditation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).  CFAI promotes professional excellence in fire fighting and emergency services.
