 Working cooperatively with the US Department of Homeland Security, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport has taken a number of steps to strengthen an already massive safety and security program. While the recent incidents in the United Kingdom are worrisome, there is no credible Federal, State or local intelligence which would indicate that similar incidents are imminent in the United States. Nevertheless, it is always wise to be prudent and cautious. The Airport Authority has indeed stepped up security, and while we will not discuss details, please be assured that we are monitoring developments and will remain ever vigilant. Airport customers can help by reporting unattended luggage or suspicious activity to the nearest police officer or TSA personnel.
The right to travel is a basic freedom and we will not yield to those who intend to cause harm to the aviation industry.
