Several Metro Airport customers tell us they were surprised to find DTW among U.S. News & World Report’s recent list of most miserable airports for this summer. While we know there’s always room for improvement, this ranking surprised us, too! But then, we took a closer look at the study methodology and found that the ranking inventors at U.S. News based their findings on the premise that full flights and delays equal misery. As it turns out, the study did not even begin to examine passenger satisfaction with airports at all—airports were unfairly judged based solely on factors of airline performance.
The results of this study are misleading. In fact, Detroit Metro continues to be honored for high passenger satisfaction, including recent awards from Airports Council International Airport Service Quality Programme and J.D. Power & Associates—just to name a couple.
We’re confident that if U.S. News had actually studied U.S. airports to rank their facilities, Detroit Metro, with its award-winning array of over 90 shops and restaurants, would again rank among passengers’ favorite airports.
