Talk about an extraordinary act of honesty! While cleaning the area around Gate A-40 at the McNamara Terminal on February 2nd, Ms. Angela Jones, an employee of Kimco Services, found a woman's purse near the Starbuck's coffee shop. Angela immediately turned over the purse to two Northwest gate employees and reported the incident to Airport Police.
A search of the purse revealed that it contained nearly $10,000 in cash. Identification inside indicated that the purse belonged to a passenger scheduled to soon depart on an international flight. Northwest employee Betty Vaughn boarded the aircraft and returned the purse, with its contents intact to its owner.
While honesty and integrity are qualities that we expect of all airport employees, it's important to recognize this kind of act. Therefore, the Airport Authority presented Ms. Jones with a Certificate of Commendation and a check for $100 in appreciation of her honesty.
