As our airport continues to grow, and our industry continues to change, Detroit Metro Airport must be able to adapt to meet the future needs of our customers, airlines and our community. Below are some of our project goals that will guide us through design, construction and operation of our North Terminal Redevelopment project:
1. Safety First – We will construct and operate one of the safest and most secure airport facilities in the nation.
2. Passenger Convenience – We will maximize passenger convenience by minimizing walking distances, providing clear and accurate directional information, and incorporating best-in-class services to meet our passenger’s needs.
3. Efficient Airside Operations – We will ensure that the North Terminal complex maximizes efficiency for movement of aircraft and support vehicles on the airfield.
4. Efficient Airline Operations – We will address all functional needs of both our hub and spoke airline operators.
5. Efficient Landside Operations – We will improve overall access to ground transportation services, commercial vehicle operations, parking and curbfront operations.
6. Maintain Flexibility & Plan for the Long-term – We will maximize flexibility for expansion, operational change, and airline growth; and will balance land-use to ensure prudent utilization of available land and facilities.
7. Constructability – We will maintain full operational capacity during the NTR project construction, and will minimize disruptions to the public as well as our tenants and stakeholders.
8. Minimize Costs/Maximize Revenue Opportunities – We will operate within established budgets for the design and construction of the NTR project and will create spaces that maximize revenue potential for the airport, which will keep our costs low and our marketplace competitive.
