Satisfaction Surveys

The results of two surveys, the Pre-Construction Questionnaire and the Post Construction Questionnaire, which are written surveys distributed as part of the QuieterHome Program to evaluate customer satisfaction before and after their participation in the Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP) are presented below. Each survey asks the same two questions regarding aircraft noise intrusion within each room of the house as well as the disturbance it causes everyday activities. In addition, the Post-construction survey asks the homeowner to rate their experience with the program and the process of having their home treated. The intent of the survey program is to provide homeowner feedback for use in tracking program performance.

The effectiveness of the Residential Sound Insulation Program can be measured through a comparison of responses from each of the two questionnaires. The summarized total aircraft noise disturbance for all activities, as asked in the surveys, is indicated by the graph below. Responses for the frequency of disturbances for all activities showed a decrease in Very Often, Often, and Sometimes responses and an increase in Seldom and Hardly Ever responses. These responses and the many to follow in this report are evidence of the continuing success of the program.

Pre & Post Acoustical Testing

For the year 2002, tested homes have had overwhelmingly successful results. The average noise level reduction improvement has been approximately 7.7dB., 2.7dB above the FAA’s established goal. Over 90% of the homes tested resulted in a 5dB reduction or more with 29% resulting in a greater than 10dB reduction in noise levels.
