Part 150 Noise Study  ::  Public Participation

People interested in this project will be given an opportunity to participate and express ideas and concerns at public meetings that will be scheduled periodically over the coming months. Public Information Meetings will be held at various times during the study process to allow people to view noise exposure maps showing the level of aircraft noise at various locations, flight tracks, and other data about aircraft activity at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Alternatives and recommendations to reduce noise levels from aircraft will be developed for review and comment by the public. Individuals may also submit written comments at any time to the airport. Public meetings will be advertised through local newspapers, direct mail, and on the airport website.

Primary goals of the Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Update are to:

  • Provide opportunities for quality, inclusive and balanced public input to the Study.
  • Assure that the public has accurate and concise information on which to base their input.
  • Assure that the program is credible and defensible.
  • Develop a shared vision among the Airport and its surrounding communities regarding land use compatibility.
  • Provide for meaningful constituent input leading to a realistic, cost effective, implementable and achievable noise mitigation program.
