Part 150 Noise Study  ::  Part 150 Home

The goal of the Study is to work in conjunction with surrounding communities, aviation experts and airport neighbors to establish a balanced, cost effective and comprehensive Noise Compatibility Program for the airport and surrounding communities. A significant challenge of this Part 150 Noise Update will be to build on the existing noise mitigation program in creative and constructive ways, while remaining cognizant of physical, environmental, regulatory, and fiscal constraints.

The federally-funded Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Update, now in the initial phase, is being conducted to identify and evaluate current and future noise effects caused by aircraft operations at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. The Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study is an update of a study that was completed and adopted by Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and approved by the FAA in 1993. Several changes have occurred at the airport since that time, including changes in the number of flights, aircraft fleet mix, aircraft developments, and airfield improvements. These changes raise the possibility that the areas affected by aircraft may have changed, thus necessitating this study update.
