DTW Master Plan  ::  Master Plan Documents

An important first step of the master planning process is to identify the goals and objectives of the study. The Master Plan goals and objectives align with the vision and mission for the WCAA and focus on addressing the critical facility issues facing the Airport. The forecast of aviation activity reviews historical aviation activity at DTW and presents forecasts of aviation activity through 2025. Forecasts of future levels of aviation activity are the basis for effective decisions in airport planning. These projections are used to determine the need for new or expanded facilities. The FAA approved the DTW Forecast in March 07 and can be viewed by clicking on the link below:

Another fundamental aspect of Master Plan is stakeholder involvement. This Master Plan process reflects the input of a broad range of Airport stakeholders, including the WCAA Board, Airport management, tenants, users, local government officials, community leaders and interested citizens. The public workshops and committee meetings were used to identify, refine and evaluate a range of alternatives for accommodating the facility requirements. The Preferred Development Plan identifies, describes and defines the combination of alternatives that best achieves the Master Plan goals and objectives. Through the stakeholder involvement process, the Preferred Development Plan has been refined to show the proper placement of facilities to accommodate the forecasted demand for DTW.
