The Airport Authority has set an Authority-wide priority for the Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Program to increase efforts to enhance the program’s success. The focus of the SBE Program is to increase the number of small businesses certified in business categories where the Airport Authority anticipates procurements, as well as, expand the spending with certified SBEs to the maximum extent practicable. More specifically, the Small Business Enterprise Program is designed to increase opportunities for qualified small businesses located within the Michigan Counties of Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland and Macomb to participate in non-federally funded Airport Authority contracts. Certified SBE firms that submit bids, proposals, responses or quotes in reply to Airport Authority solicitations for goods and services are eligible to receive an equalization credit.
Participation in the SBE Program at the Airport Authority is completely voluntary; SBE certification is not required to participate in any Airport Authority contract. However, SBE certification is required to receive the offered equalization credit. To receive an equalization credit in connection with a specific bid, proposal, response or quote, firms must submit a completed SBE Certification Application and all required supporting documentation to the Airport Authority by the solicitation submission deadline date. Airport Authority SBE Certification is valid for a two (2) year period. Unfavorable certification decisions may be appealed to the Wayne County Airport Authority.*
