Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) has two terminals: McNamara and North. Delta and its SkyTeam partners Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines operate from McNamara Terminal, while all other airlines operate from the North Terminal. Visit the Airlines section for a list of DTW airline terminal locations and contact information.
Plan to arrive at the airport no later than 90 min before a domestic departure and 120 min in advance of an international departure to allow plenty of time to park, check-in, clear TSA passenger screening, and enjoy the many shops and restaurants inside your departure terminal prior to boarding. It’s always a good idea to check with your airline, too, in case they have any special guidance on how early to arrive.
Be sure to verify your specific airline’s baggage policy and restrictions to ensure that you are packed smart and avoid any surprises at check-in.
Most airlines serving DTW allow travelers to check-in for their flight, print their boarding pass and even pay for baggage fees all via the airline’s website as early as 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.
When you arrive at the airport, follow roadway and terminal signs to the check-in counter for your airline. If you already have a boarding pass and do not have baggage to check, proceed immediately to TSA passenger screening at the departure terminal for your airline.
