All passengers arriving to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) on international flights must claim their luggage and complete U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) entry procedures prior to exiting into the international arrivals hall.
The international arrivals hall is located:
McNamara Terminal: Lower Level (one level below domestic baggage claim)
North Terminal: Level 1 (Baggage Claim) near domestic Carousel 2
Please note it may take up to one hour from the time an international flight lands until the first customers from that flight complete the entry process.
Baggage carts are available to customers arriving on international flights at no charge in the international baggage claim area, prior to completing U.S. Customs inspection.
NOTE: Passengers arriving from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Halifax, Canada; Nassau, The Bahamas; and Ireland are subject to U.S. pre-clearance at their point of origin and are generally treated as domestic passengers upon arrival at DTW.
